Imagine these tango memories on your walls!

Back in the Northwest US

Tulip fields, Mt Vernon

Brrr baby it’s cold outside, in San Francisco it was 60 degrees on day with a cold wind blowing.

In Seattle, it was 50 degrees with a cold wind blowing, but one day reached a temperature of 60 and no wind. Was devine.

And now we are on San Jusn Island about 75 miles north of Seattle and on an island in the Salish Sea.  Here it’s about 52 degrees with a constant wind and rainy.

The funny thing in the northwest is that the weather is odd. It really doesn’t rain, it kinda spits all day. It’s gray, with brightness or gray with darkness or gray with a hazy foggy thing going on, but very rarely is it sunny.

While in Seattle, we went to a milonga in Seattle at the Greenwood Masonic Hall hosted by Mary Edenshaw called Milonga Madera Verde. Your admission includes mimosas, brunch items and lovely company and tandas. This event is by invite only to comply with Washington state liquor laws. Contact Mary on Facebook. [Allseattletango.com]

This was a marvelous milonga as I re-connected with dancers that I had not seen for 4 years. Maximo and I got to dance with many new dancers. Was so much fun. There are so many memories.

After that we drove up to Anacortes, took the Washington state ferry yo Friday Harbor and now we are ensconced on San Juan Island with no tango here, but next Sunday we will go to another marvelous milonga, run by Ken Brown named La Garúa.

So much tango now in the Seattle area. All the information is listed on alllseattletango.com. There is a milonga nightly.

Storage stuff.

As to us, we continue with cleaning out my storage units. I packed up my house back in Jan 2020, expecting to return in June 2020. We all know how the pandemic changed our lives.

Now, in April 2024, I have returned to my previous home city to reclaim my belongings, dispose of my stuff, sort our my stuff, and move my stuff to the next storage spot.

The drive from Seattle to Anacortes is very scenic and we were able to see the final stages of the Mt Vernon Tulip festival.  It is one of my favorite events in the northwest as it is the start of spring. The sun shines a bit more, and the sun sets later. The seasons are all about renewal.

This time in the Northwest is a journey of renewing friendships with folks not seen for many years, visiting old haunts with new eyes and finally closing doors not used or needed anymore.

Ferry around Shaw Island

For the first weekend in May we will attend the Salt Spring Island Tango Retreat. This is an event that I have wanted to attend but was never in the area. It’s a small encuentro of approx 100 people on an island off the coast of Vancouver Island Canada. Beautiful location and friendly milongeros, I have been told. More news on this tango event after we attend.

Am so fortunate to have a man in my life who supports and helps me with all, my Maximo.

Ferry fun!

Abrazo y besitos

I chose tango as my dance because I love the lifestyle, embrace, and, yes, dressing up. In my tango series, I share images shot worldwide, in the places where I have danced: Spain, France, Germany Turkey,Canada,Italy Greece, and the USA, but mostly in Buenos Aires, Argentina. With my written stories, I try to share some of the experiences that have stayed with me... An amazing embrace, a beautiful meal, a slightly uncomfortable life moment at a stay a train station or airport. These are the moments we remember. As to my personal info, I was born in New Jersey eventually, after living in New York, Boston, and San Francisco, most recently on San Juan Island in Washington state, I moved to Buenos Aires in January 2020. For 38 years, years I curated a contemporary art gallery, where I refined my skills and became a visual editor. Always with a camera or some picture-capturing device in tow [including much heavy equipment], I started my travel at approximately the same time, was introduced to tango about 12 years ago. VIsual storytelling begins with a moment. Some internal mechanism is triggered by a scene or event or movement and ...there's your photo. Other times, it’s about a sliver of color or something else odd or ordinary that captures the eye. As I am now fluent in Spanish, it is my desire that my stories and photos reach the broader tango community and other travelers. Travelingtango offers translations into Spanish, Italian, and German. Abrazo!!!
